For Work-Life Balance: Making the Most of Your Holidays
Work is essential for your personal and professional growth. But as they say, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Every once in a while, you need to take a break from work, as it will not only relax you but will also help you examine other parts of your life.
If you are granted the permission to take a vacation from work, then go for it! You have the luxury of time to do what you need or want to do. But if you want a guide that will help you make the most of your holiday, here are some pointers for you.
Go somewhere
If you have at least two weeks’ worth of vacation, why not step out of your comfort zone and go somewhere. Traveling around the country or abroad can open a lot of opportunities for you. It will expose you to different cuisines, peoples, and cultures, thus making you a whole new person once you get back.
Focus on your passion
If you have been working on a side project for a long time now, your vacation shall provide you more time to improve your craft (or start a new one). So dust off the first draft of your novel and write again. Plant a new flower in your garden. Catch up on reading and explore new materials, such as self-help books and working woman magazines like
Her Magazine.
Do not “go” to work
You are on holiday for a reason, and you must fight the urge or temptation to take a peek at what’s going on at the office.
Have a vacation responder ready so that email senders will be informed that you are busy. Before you leave work, you may want to inform your colleagues or staff that as much as possible, you don’t want phone calls while you are on vacation.
These are only some of the ways you can make the most of your vacation. Have a good one!
